Rising Stars: Backroad Gee

26 01 2021

Backroad Gee, the east London rapper combining influences of grime with UK drill, has been making a name for himself via a series of collaborations, including an appearance on BBC Sound of 2021 winner Pa Salieu’s track, My Family.

His 2020 debut single, Party Popper, which also features Salieu and Ambush, received more than 1.6 million YouTube views, and since then he's worked with grime pioneers Lethal Bizzle and JME, as well as Afrobeats artist, Burna Boy. The 23 year old recently joined forces with Chip and RV on their single, Moonwalk Slide, with online music platform GRM Daily claiming the three artists ‘come together seamlessly’ and unleash ‘tonnes of energy’.
